Ashish Dhayani, PhD

  • Postdoctoral Fellow

Ashish Dhayani, PhD, is a biomaterials scientist whose research centers on identifying unmet biomedical needs and designing tailored material-based solutions to address them. His work integrates principles from immunology, chemistry, and bioengineering, bridging traditionally distinct disciplines to develop innovative therapeutic platforms for clinically relevant challenges.

During his doctoral training, Dr. Dhayani developed inflammation-responsive biomaterials for localized immunomodulation in vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA), with the goal of preventing graft rejection. His research also involved the design of polymeric hydrogels and microparticles for multi-drug delivery, including the encapsulation of large, heat-labile biomolecules such as insulin, providing him with a strong foundation in organic chemistry and bioengineering.

Currently, Dr. Dhayani is a postdoctoral associate in the Department of Dermatology, where his research focuses on microneedle-based platforms to engineer immune responses through the skin. His ongoing work aims to advance immunomodulatory therapies for food allergy, with broader applicability to autoimmune diseases.
